The 2015 Rachel Corrie Sports Tournament for Athletes with Disabilities

We Need Your Help: Donate Now!

December 22 – 31

Marking the “International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Hosted by

Al Basma Club for the Disabled

in association with

The Palestine Paralympic Committee

The exness United Nation’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities occurs in December, and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate than by supporting the Rachel Corrie Sports Tournament for Athletes with Disabilities to be held in Gaza, December 22 – 31.  In this second event of our Rachel Corrie 2015 Gaza Sport Initiative, 150 men and women will take part in football, table tennis, and basketball tournaments, and a wheelchair marathon, providing a sport forum to showcase the skills of athletes who are deaf, amputees, paraplegics, or have suffered from polio.

These inspiring exness ログイン events are organized by Al Basma Club For the disable. The organization’s chairman, Eid Shaqura, told us, “We are very excited at the prospect of holding this tournament for our members. These events will greatly help in expanding the participation of disabled athletes in the sport activities to guarantee their full participation in Gazan society.”  Read about last year’s tournament  here:

It all depends on your generous support!

The events have begun, but we still need your support! Your donation now to Rachel Corrie Gaza Sport Initiatives not only helps provide the basics, such as stadium rental, supplies and preparations, new footballs,  and other necessities. It also covers extras that make this tournament a memorable one for athletes and observers. The final matches are a big event hosted by the Al Basma Club for Disabled.  Banners welcome the fans! Team members receive Rachel Corrie commemorative medallions, and recognition prizes are awarded for Most Valuable Player and Sportsmanship. Special transportation and other critical support is provided that allows for participation by disabled athletes from throughout Gaza.  After the big finale, organizers and special guests commune and, with a traditional delicious meal, celebrate a job well done.

It is noteworthy that the Rachel Corrie Tournament for Athletes with Disabilities is one of the very few venues in Gaza that encourages womens’ athletics. The Rachel Corrie Foundation is pleased to support the thirty female athletes registered to participate in this year’s event.

Your support is vital!
